The Museum School

 museum-school.jpg Photo by George Johanson

1967.  I guess you had to be there.  Here is the class of ‘68 in their third year of study at the Museum School, now better known as the Pacific Northwest College of Art.  Pictured are a couple of our much appreciated customers, including Ron Jennings (far left in the vest) and Henk Pander, the advanced painting instructor, looking stern and iconoclastic second from the right.   Melinda Thorsnes, who is currently conducting a workshop throught the Creative Arts Community at Menucha would be a freshman that year.  Tom Coleman, standing with his arms folded at the far right,  is now a highly successful ceramicist living in Henderson, Nevada.    His wife Elaine, the celadon Queen,  is also a successful sculptor and a fellow graduate of 1968.  colemanintheirstudiooldblkwhtweb.jpg  Here they are about 10 years after graduating.  Few schools could boast the kind of resonating success that the Museum School achieved in its transient life.  One can only hope that future graduating classes will have the passion and commitment to art that this generation had.  Much thanks to Ron Jennings for sharing this great photo with us.
